Transfer Orientation

Register for Orientation


Transfer Orientation session is a one-day program beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m. and ending around 5:00 p.m. The session includes experiences designed to allow students to learn about campus resources, interact with fellow new Eagles and current Eagles, meet with academic advisers and register for classes. Transfer Orientation Leaders are paired with groups of students to assist them with their transition to Winthrop University.

If you're in the area before or after your Orientation session, we encourage you to explore and get your bearings!


Transfer Orientation 2020 Dates


For New Transfer Students whose first semester at Winthrop will be Fall 2020:

  • Session C: Thursday, May 21, 2020

  • Session D: Wednesday, May 27, 2020

  • Session F: Tuesday, August 4, 2020

  • Session G: Wednesday, August 19, 2020*

         *Session G is for students who are unable to attend Sessions C, D, or F. 

Post-traditional Students have these additional options for Orientation:

  • Session B: Wednesday, May 20, 2020 (morning)

  • Session E: Thursday, June 25, 2020 (afternoon)

Students register for Orientation online. After you have successfully registered online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.


Post-Traditional Students

To better accommodate the needs of post-traditional students (students aged 25 and up), special Advising and Registration Only sessions may be available. This is an opportunity for post-traditional students to come to campus to be advised and register for classes for the fall semester. These sessions are limited to post-traditional students. Any other transfer students with special circumstances who would like to attend one of these sessions should contact the Office of New Student and Family Programs for approval.

International Students

International students should contact the International Center at 803/323-2133 regarding Orientation requirements and accommodations. 

Students and Guests with Disabilities

To request accessibility accommodations for Orientation, please complete this form, and we will work with you through your request. Please note that both Orientation and Family Orientation do involve a good bit of walking around campus. Winthrop University does not have wheelchairs, scooters, or other equipment available for rent, so please plan to bring or rent your own equipment for your visit, sufficient for your needs.
