ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Shakespeare’s timeless classic “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” flies onto Winthrop University’s Johnson Theatre stage this Wednesday through Sunday, Feb. 19-23. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. with the Sunday matinee beginning at 2 p.m.

Filled with lovers, fairies and rustics, “A Midsummer Night's Dream” has something for everyone. Add a misapplied love potion, mistaken identities and the most famous play-within-a play ever written, and you have a perfect recipe for mirth. The language, poetry and wit of Shakespeare shine as bright and as lovely as the moon in this classic.

Directed by Adjunct Professor of Theatre Sarah Provencal, the play includes the following student cast members: Zay Vorderstrasse as Theseus; Katie Marcelino as Hippolyta; Ashley Brown as Egeus; Aimee Grace Wilson as Lysander; Emily O’Regan as Demetrius; Ally Baumgartner as Hermia; Caitlin Brown as Helena; Delaney McLaughlin as Philostrate; Maddi Penn as Quince; Emma Townsend as Bottom; Coby Bloomer as Snug; Elijah Koch as Flute; Cameron Muccio as Snout; Amery Miller as Starveling; Caleb Moody as Oberon; Sebastian Sowell as Titania; Sammi Melander as Puck; and Anna Goldstein, Emily Krull, Erica Meece, Sierra Kyhkynen, Anna Cibbarelli and Neveah Woolens as Fairies.

Tickets are $8 with a Winthrop ID and $15 for the general public. Tickets are for reserved seating, and advance purchase is advised. Tickets can be purchased online, by emailing boxoffice@winthrop.edu or calling the box office at 803/323-4014. Box office hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday during production week.
